This role is office based in Canberra.
ROLE
As the Security Officer Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing our Canberra-based Security
Officer team to ensure that our people, information, and physical assets are secure. Our Security Officers
work on a 24/7 roster, and you will be managing their day-to-day activities.
You will be responsible for the management of the security systems, manage the security breach
compliance program, and develop and implement security policy, procedures, training, and security
awareness programs.
The Security Officer Supervisor will be responsible for providing strong leadership to the Security Officer
team. We will need a person with a strong team ethic and an enthusiasm for self-development as you will
be continually learning and sharing your experience with others.
To be successful in this role, you will need sound judgement, excellent people and customer service skills
including the ability to communicate with others clearly and concisely. In priority security situations, you
may also be required to act as an after-hours on-call contact.
A knowledge of Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework security requirements is
highly regarded although not essential.
The role requires a dynamic team player who enjoys working with stakeholders, team members and
individually on projects. You will be able to meet tight deadlines and work to support ASIS priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The following is an overview of key responsibilities and tasks:
Supervise and manage Security Officers to meet security requirements, including rostering of
personnel
Supervise administration of the security alarm systems, electronic access control, key
management, closed circuit television, and other security systems;
Monitor the reporting of security incidents by Security Officers and initiate security breach
inquiries and required compliance action;
Assist with the development and implementation of security training for Security Officers;
Assist with the development and implementation of security policy and procedures;
Assist with the development and implementation of security education and awareness
programmes;
Undertake emergency response duties; and
Act as after hours on-call contact in priority security situations.

other customer agencies and external suppliers
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Formal qualifications and/or training in management and/or supervision;
Formal qualifications and/or experience in conducting security-related investigations;
Highly developed customer service skills;
Proven experience in the prioritisation and organisation of tasks, often under time pressure;
Experience supervising staff or in a team leadership role;
Experience in the implementation of policy and procedures;
Current Driver’s Licence;
First Aid qualifications or the ability to undertake training; and
Experience working in a security environment.
