Our Hope Street – Women’s Services provides spaces of belonging, increasing safety and creating choice. Women’s Services includes Women’s Centres that are safe for women facing challenges and at risk of marginalisation, including women involved in the sex industry, women facing domestic violence, and those based in the social housing community of the inner city and western suburbs. About the role: The Chaplain will provide quality person-centred Chaplaincy/ Pastoral Care that meets the needs of the community, staff and volunteers and is consistent with Baptist Care’s Purpose and Values. The successful applicant will have: Essential Competencies & Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications in chaplaincy /pastoral care OR tertiary theological qualifications with a willingness to undertake chaplaincy / pastoral care specific training within the first 12 months of employment.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of Christian spiritual maturity with a pastoral heart
Active involvement in and recommendation from a local Christian Church
Chaplaincy or pastoral care experience
Current ‘Working with Children Check’
Experience working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary settings
Willingness to undergo a police check
Desirable Experience:
Experience working in a community setting and / or work experience outside of a church or chaplaincy role
Experience working with people who have complex needs, including living with disadvantage or poverty, domestic or family violence, mental health, or trauma.
Group work training and experience or willingness to undertake training
Ability to support the Hope Street team to work within the principles of social justice, harm minimisation, trauma informed care and strength-based models
