ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote
Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its
work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations and economic

This role is based in Canberra.
ROLE
As the Manager Technical Security Projects, you will manage and deliver technical security risk services
including the implementation and management of security programs and policy, including EMSEC advice
for facilities and projects. You will be responsible for the day to day management of technical assurance
and security services, manage a technical security counter measures function to support operational and
business capabilities as well as outcomes relating to ASIS facilities projects whilst leading a team to
ensure our facilities meet technical security, certification and accreditation standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Support the Director Security Projects in strategic policy and decision making to enhance the Services
robust technical security culture.
Identify technical threats, risks and vulnerabilities to Projects.
Monitor, analyse and share the emergence of technical threats and new capabilities through
research.
Provision of high-quality technical security advice.
Prepare and coordinate briefing material, correspondence and reports regarding technical security
policy and issues to inform and guide the Projects team.
Identify learning opportunities for others and empowering them by delegating tasks.
CORE SKILLS
Knowledge of Radio Frequency technology and TEMPEST threats.
Understanding of EMSEC threats and treatments.
High level knowledge and understanding of current Australian Government security arrangements,
including the Australian Protective Security Policy Framework.
Demonstrated, current knowledge of physical and technical security policies and practices.
Ability to develop and implement proactive and effective security policies.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:
Ability to prioritise, organise and task staff, often under time pressure;
Effective written and verbal communication skills;
Relevant experience and/or qualifications:
Certificate 3 or 4 in electronics, or
Degree in Electronics or electrical engineering, or
Defence electronics or technical training.
Certificate or Diploma in Government Security and/or Risk Management is desirable.
