About Us The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) Is responsible for protecting the South Australian community from the effects of fire, road crashes, chemical incidents and other emergencies. We are a team of approximately 1,300 operational personnel and corporate professionals serving the Community across 20 metropolitan and 17 regional fire stations. About the role The Technical Support Assistant maintains critical operational and protective equipment, goods, plant and appliances for the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) to ensure a rapid and effective response to fire and emergency incidents. The Technical Support Assistant is responsible for:
maintaining appliance stowage equipment (including but not limited to; hose, ladders, ropes and small engines) that has been assigned to appliances as well as that kept in reserve.
maintaining a timely supply of spare parts, materials and equipment to stations and the Engineering Workshop at Angle Park.
assisting with the maintenance of the Angle Park operational mobilising/demobilising function in a state of readiness
The Technical Support Assistant - Appliance Equipment also contributes to the provision of coordinated logistics services during “campaign incidents. The Logistics Support Assistant is accountable to ensure that the MFS Logistics Section can support Regional and Metropolitan Operations with a 24 hours/seven-day service delivery.
About you You will have the:
Demonstrated ability to effectively cooperate and communicate with staff, customers and suppliers at all levels.
Proven ability to work independently, under broad direction, and prioritise own workload to achieve results within set deadlines.
Demonstrated initiative, flexibility of approach and ability to work as a member of a team with a customer service focus.
Ability to perform manual lifting tasks on a regular basis.
Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and undertake formal training as required.
Ability to problem solve and examine and improve existing work practices and systems.
Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and the ability to undertake data entry and prepare reports.
General experience in the trouble shooting, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Experience in material handling including receiving, dispatching and recording stock movements.
Experience in successfully undertaking a variety of tasks in a production or logistics or operational environment (or similar) with a minimum of direction.
Basic knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare and Equal Opportunity Legislation.
Demonstrated ability to perform set tasks effectively in demanding situations, e.g. when supporting active emergency/incident management.
The ability to self-motivated.
Experience in Basware and Ausfleet.
Experience in logistics management in an emergency services environment
An understanding of MFS and emergency services operations and services to the community.
An appreciation of the functions and workings of MFS practices and operational plant and equipment.

GSE3
$1,106.10 - $1,117.60 per week
