Primary objective
Contribute to the delivery of Transport and Civil Services programs through the provision of research, analysis, and
miscellaneous projects as required.
Context statement
The Transport Planning - Land Use Management team works collaboratively across the Territory contributing to the
development and implementation of policies and directives relating to transport infrastructure, including all land use
negotiations/agreements on Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics land. This unit is very busy with a dynamic
workload and great variety of work.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake strategic assessments and research, prepare reports and recommendations for less complex strategic
projects/issues.
2. Coordinate the preparation of road and transport infrastructure related impact submissions for Native Title and
Aboriginal land claims.
3. Liaise with a broad range of internal and external customers ensuring a high level of client focus and client satisfaction.
4. Maintenance of register of original road related legal documents to meet governance and reporting requirements.
5. Undertake research and prepare road and land use related briefings and correspondence.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail and ability to undertake research and analysis, collate and present
information in an appropriate and effective format.
2. Demonstrated ability to prepare reports and correspondence including ministerial briefings and submissions to a high
standard or the proven ability to acquire such skills quickly.
3. High level of oral and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients both internal and external to
government.
4. Proven ability to work independently using initiative and sound judgement to manage priorities with minimal
supervision, or as part of a team in a dynamic environment handling several tasks concurrently to meet tight timeframes.
5. Demonstrated high level competency in the use of business related computer systems including, spreadsheets,
databases, email, records management, and the NT Integrated Land Information System (ILIS) and an ability to extract
information and reports.
6. Understanding of land administration and land tenure and the associated legislation in the Northern Territory or the
demonstrated ability to acquire such knowledge quickly.
Desirable
1. An awareness of issues relating to Native Title and Aboriginal Land Rights within the Northern Territory.
2. Knowledge of land information systems and land tenure or ability to quickly acquire such skills.
3. Ability to interpret and apply legislation.
4. Current or eligibility for NT drivers licence or ability to obtain one.
