Make a meaningful difference in the lives of Australians in need
Life at Mission Australia
When you join the team at Mission Australia, you become part of a community who are determined to end homelessness and ensure people in need can thrive. United by our Christian purpose and values, we stand together with anyone who needs us, for as long as they need us.
Your Opportunity
As the Community Partnerships Project Officer, you will support the design and embedding of place-based, person-led practices across Mission Australia. You’ll enable innovation in community development and collective impact by providing advice, communication, and project support to local teams, community leaders, and partners, ensuring more regions are empowered to help communities thrive.
Working within the Service Design and Innovation (SDI) Team, you will help design and develop models that increase social impact and human-centered design to ensure community partnerships and projects are aligned with our strategic goals.
Bring your creativity as you support the Communities of Focus initiative, addressing complex challenges by fostering collaboration and driving sustainable change through a place-based approach.
If you’re passionate about empowering communities and creating lasting impact, this role is for you!
Your key responsibilities will be to:
-
Support the design and roll out of place-based approaches, including updating national frameworks and creating helpful resources.
-
Co-develop a community capacity-building model and support projects that drive innovation and learning.
-
Facilitate Community of Practice groups and provide expert advice to strengthen place-based work in key areas.
-
Support communication strategies by creating materials for stakeholders and working with local teams to engage communities and lived experience and voice.
-
Promote place-based change and foster collaboration across teams to increase community impact.
-
Build strong relationships to support innovation, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices across Mission Australia.
Requirements for Success
-
Proven expertise in embedding innovative capacity-building practices and adopting working through a place-based approach.
-
Experience in developing resources that enhance the implementation of Strengthening Communities initiatives and increase visibility.
-
Strong networking and communication skills to translate community ideas into scalable innovations aligned with place-based and national objectives.
-
Knowledge of collective impact and community development, including asset-based community development and participatory methodologies.
-
Experience facilitating groups online and in person.
-
Ability to manage projects collaboratively and autonomously while fostering respectful relationships across the organization and engaging with First Nations and CALD contexts.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
