Primary objective
Provide quality financial advice; coordinate financial monitoring and reporting; provide high level governance, administrative,
project services and support across the Mines Branch including policy review and supporting compliance with work, health
safety requirements.
Context statement
The Governance and Securities team sits within the Management group of the Mines Branch and provides quality advice,
support, and coordination to ensure the effective operation and delivery of strategic objectives and priorities in line with
Departmental requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide quality advice on a range of governance and business support matters e.g. budget preparation, financial
monitoring, vehicle management, work health safety policy development and review.
2. Work collaboratively with Divisional managers in establishing budgets and financial expenditure.
3. Act as the central point of contact within the Branch on financial matters and coordinate a range of relevant governance
and business activities including reporting and finance matters.
4. Coordinate the provision of legal advice to the Mines Branch regarding proposed activities especially regarding
indemnities and guarantees against the Treasurer’s Directions; ensure the accurate recording of such advice.
5. Lead the review of a range of work health and safety policy and procedures on office environment, travel and vehicles.
6. Ensure compliance with Government protocols, administrative, legislative and record management requirements.
7. Coordinate the annual Capital Works, Minor New Works and Repairs and Maintenance programs for the Branch.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in providing high quality support services and advice regarding financial management,
budgeting, and governance preferably in a public sector environment.
2. Sound knowledge of and ability to apply, work health and safety legislation and policy.
3. Proven experience in developing and implementing policy and procedures.
4. Well-developed and effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to work
effectively in a team environment.
5. Demonstrated strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
