Primary objective
Provide high quality and evidence based analysis and advice on enabling infrastructure and projects that will grow the Northern Territory
economy through increased private investment and sustained new jobs creation.
Context statement
The Facilitated Projects team has responsibility for maintaining a pipeline of Facilitated Investment Projects (FIP) as a strategic pillar of
industry and economic development. A FIP is a commercial opportunity with the potential to attract private sector investment and
generate broader economic benefits but may require government facilitation to meet investment thresholds.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver high quality evidence based economic and feasibility analysis, strategic advice and comment across a range of economic,
development and industry projects/opportunities which achieve the government’s strategic priorities focussed on economic growth,
primarily through increasing private investment and sustained new jobs creation.
2. Manage the delivery of projects by undertaking project planning and delivery, including navigating complex processes and feasibility
assessments and procurement activities including contract management on a range of projects
3. Produce high level briefings and correspondence including Ministerial briefs, Legislative Assembly briefs, Cabinet Submissions, speech
notes and research papers.
4. Support Directors in providing leadership and guidance to effectively manage workflows and achieve overall business objectives.
5. Represent the Department on cross agency and intergovernmental working groups and maintain productive working relationships
with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Drive strategic and innovative thinking to identify options and generate solutions, with a focus on the identification and analysis of
projects that can enable economic growth and policy and framework development, to resolve complex issues with challenging time
frames.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level experience in policy and economic research, project, feasibility and business case development, and project
evaluation, and delivering clear and considered advice to complex issues.
2. Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills and ability to meet the requirements of a wide range of audiences.
3. Highly developed organisational, supervisory and project management skills, with demonstrated high level judgement in responding
to changing situations, setting priorities, meeting deadlines and producing work of a high standard.
4. Proven ability to represent the agency on cross agency and intergovernmental working groups and develop and maintain professional
relationships.
5. Demonstrated understanding of Northern Territory and national business, industry and economic development trends and
opportunities, including the political environment, and the ability to translate this into meaningful advice.
6. Proven experience with working in a high demand environment subject to constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in economics, business, public policy or other relevant disciplines.
