As part of our Ranger team, you'll be ensuring the protection, accessibility, and appreciation of Queensland's rich natural heritage, collaborating with local communities and diverse stakeholders to foster land stewardship, recreation, and conservation within our treasured state forests and reserves.
With a specific focus on Estate Management and Planning, and managing public engagement, you'll drive the Values Based Planning Framework, ensuring that the management strategies align with the unique needs of Northern Region's protected areas. Your role will also include administering authorities and permits, managing QPWS Estate agreements, and advancing the operational goals of the Cape York Peninsula Tenure Resolution Program.
Managing the Springvale Station Nature Refuge, you'll lead a ranger team dedicated to the everyday care of this vital conservation area, implementing an effective annual work program tailored to its unique environmental and heritage values.
This Cairns-based role involves regional travel, offering you the chance to directly influence conservation strategies across various locations within Northern Queensland. Your leadership will galvanise a multi-disciplinary team, setting annual schedules for fire management, pest control, and facility maintenance, melding QPWS strategies with actionable policies and procedures.
You'll be the driving force behind the development of protected area management systems and standards, overseeing emergency responses, and ensuring comprehensive training is provided to your team. Partnering closely with community representatives, Indigenous peoples, and government agencies, your stakeholder engagement skills will be paramount to cultivating effective area management.
