Primary objective
Responsible for the development, coordination and management of events held by the department.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop, coordinate, and deliver departmental events throughout the year, including NT Training Awards, division led
events and internal functions.
2. Develop and coordinate event programs including managing speakers and workshop facilitators.
3. Develop and manage communications, project plans, delegate registration and budgets for individual events.
4. Develop sponsorship packages, promotional, marketing and information materials to support events.
5. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and networks with peers, industry, training organisations and other
stakeholders at local and national levels.
6. Prepare promotional materials, ministerial correspondence, speech notes, media releases, and other correspondence in relation
to events.
7. Represent the Northern Territory at national meetings as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive demonstrated experience in events management with an attention to detail, client focus and proven ability to
interpret the political, social, and organisational environment when developing and managing department events.
2. Proven high level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly to develop and
write project plans, marketing and promotional materials, ministerial correspondence, and reports.
3. Proven high level interpersonal, collaborative, and problem-solving skills demonstrating the ability to build, nurture and sustain
positive industry and stakeholder relationships, and communicate with influence.
4. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a number of projects at one time with competing deadlines.
5. Knowledge of governance and financial procedures and the ability to manage budgets.
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment with a range of stakeholders and people from
diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Qualification in events management coupled with qualifications/experience in marketing/promotions/public relations and event
management software including Award Force and Events Air.
2. Knowledge of the Department’s role within the business community.

There will be a need to travel intra and interstate and a requirement to participate in events which occur outside normal working
hours. Participation in these events will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
