Primary objective
The position supports delivery of growth facilitating policies and activities necessary for sustainable development of the
Territory’s minerals industry. This involves support for Minerals Industry Development work unit and provision of policy
research, analysis, advice, and assist with minerals industry policy matters and their development.
Context statement
As part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, you will assist in developing, analysing, implementing, and evaluating agency
and government policy initiatives. The position will support sustainable minerals industry development and diversification,
crucial for clean energy technologies, enhancing the Territory’s investment competitiveness and reinforcing the commitment
to environmental, social and governance credentials.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Conduct research and prepare initial advice on a broad range of issues related to the mining industry.
2. Respond to requests for less complex policy advice, usually contributing to a specific aspect of policy analysis and
development.
3. Support policy implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
4. Support stakeholder consultation.
5. Provide administrative support as required from time to time.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge of research, interpretation, critical thinking and methods of analysis.
2. Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills with the capacity to quickly understand and assimilate new information.
3. Proven ability to, by thinking and using knowledge, facts and data analyse and identify potential solutions for less complex
problems.
4. Demonstrated high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
5. Sound interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in economics, business, public policy or other relevant disciplines.
2. Experience or knowledge related to the mining industry development and governance.
