Primary objective
Manage a range of activities relating to the design, development, implementation and coordination of strategic workforce planning
solutions to support and drive the progression of outcomes, aligned to NT Public Sector’s (NTPS) strategic workforce objectives.
Context statement
The Workforce Strategy team is part of Workforce Development in DCDD’s Corporate Services, supporting agencies to develop workforce
strategies and delivering strategic organisational workforce development initiatives and projects. This role will focus on leading a high
performing team effectively coordinating a cycle of workforce planning support to drive progression against relevant NTPS strategies in
addition to overseeing the successful delivery and implementation of Workforce Development Projects.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage a portfolio team of Workforce Planning specialists by providing supervision, mentoring, support and training, fostering a
collaborative, client centric work environment that ensures the requirements of client agencies are met.
2. Work collaboratively to provide strategic support and advice to a diverse group of client agencies with the planning and
implementation of strategic workforce plans and workforce development initiatives.
3. Undertake research and collate information for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of
workforce outcomes.
4. Influence and support senior and middle managers to adopt appropriate workforce planning and management practices through policy
and strategic advice on complex workforce planning.
5. Work closely with client agencies to drive an enhanced focus and increase engagement with employees from Inclusion and Diversity
and Aboriginal Workforce cohorts.
6. Manage an annual workforce planning cycle, working closely with subject matter experts and clients to drive and maintain progress.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in high level project planning through implementation, coordination and evaluation of workforce planning
initiatives to drive enterprise wide services.
2. Demonstrated ability to analyse workforce data to provide future focused strategic, conceptual and analytical advice and solutions.
3. High level oral and written communication, decision making and presentation skills with the ability to prepare a range of
correspondence and reports.
4. High level interpersonal and relationship-building skills and demonstrated ability to effectively consult, collaborate, negotiate and
influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
5. Experience in leading a busy team to drive the successful delivery of workforce planning and development programs/initiatives.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, respectful and
innovative.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in Workforce Planning, Organisational Development, Human Resources or business management.
