Primary objective
Provide high level advice and support in coordinating and delivering client-focussed generalist and specialised Human Resource
(HR) Management expertise to Northern Territory Public Sector agencies and employees with a particular focus on case
management activities.
Context statement
Workforce Services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse
environment. This position sits within Workforce Performance providing expert advice to progress issues of inability, workplace
disputes, unsatisfactory performance and conduct adopting an evidence-based approach.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level advice, guidance and coaching to clients on a range of people management matters.
2. Manage complex employment case management matters such as disputes/grievances, discipline, medical, investigations and
inability, recommending appropriate courses of action for resolution, early intervention strategies, risk management advice and
employee support.
3. Undertake facilitated discussions regarding matters such as workplace conflict and employee complaints.
4. Manage effective partnerships with clients, human resource (HR) providers and other stakeholders.
5. Prepare submissions and reports to agencies delegates as required.
6. Contribute to the development of contemporary case management strategies, policies, procedures, and internal
documentation aligned to corporate objectives, legislation, public sector initiatives and customer service improvement.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience and contemporary knowledge of effective people management strategies.
2. Experience in managing case management matters in areas such as conduct, dispute resolution, performance management
and inability.
3. Experience in stakeholder management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish collaborative
relationships at all levels to positively influence human resource practices.
4. Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including the effective management of multiple complex and
high priority tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
5. Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including experience in interpreting and applying legislation.
6. High level written skills and the ability to analyse information for preparing a range of complex correspondence/documents.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative,
and respectful.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications in HR or a related field.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act 1993 and subordinate legislation or ability
to quickly acquire.
