ABOUT THE BRANCH
The Internal Services Branch is responsible for managing the Service Centre, Application Support, Automation, AI and Quality Assurance, ICT projects, and the Finance Information Environment and its supporting technology. The Automation, Artificial Intelligence & Quality Assurance Team (AAIQA) is responsible for assuring the quality of software and infrastructure solutions developed and/or deployed by the Division. We also develop RPA automations and support AI for the department. The team provides testing services for small to large projects across the department as well as support the BAU functions for application support and IT infrastructure.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Automation Lead is a critical role to the Automation team and is responsible for the smooth operation of the RPA environment. This involves managing people, resources and governance through:

Leading the Automation team to deliver RPA solutions through:o Managing a small team of automation practitioners.
- Overseeing best-practice design for automation and updating design standards as required.
- Management of the technical environment including liaison with departmental ICT on infrastructure, licencing and trouble shooting.
- Management of the control room team for automations already in production (50+ active automations) including scheduling, capacity management, exception identification and management, performance management and reporting.
- Ensuring governance and procedures are in alignment with the Robotic Operating Model and revising as required.
- Leading improvement initiatives, and
- Reporting on the value and benefits of the RPA solutions developed.
- Managing, mentoring and providing technical support to the automation developers through strong leadership and effective line management.
- Partnering with business and data analysts within the team to work with business areas across the department to develop fit for purpose automation solutions addressing business process challenges.
- Working with the Director and other team leads to refine the strategic road map of the Automation function ensuring alignment with departmental strategic objectives.
- Working with colleagues across ICTD, contributing to divisional leadership group discussions and projects in the delivery of outcomes aligned with integrated business planning for the branch, division and department.
- Reviewing changes in technology and recommending new automation products that could be adopted.
