PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
This role oversees the consolidation of Power and Water Corporation (PWC) forecasts and financial reports into corporation wide reporting as well
as report design, developing key performance indicators and financial strategy, enterprise valuation, financial modelling and management reporting
through the Senior Manager Business Finance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The “WHAT” to be delivered:
Function
- Coordinate and review the development of Power and Water consolidated budgets and forecasts from the various business units within the
Corporation ensuring that they meet the overall commercial requirements and Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) deadlines.
- For the Corporation, responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the consolidated Statement of Corporate Intent (SCI) submissions,
consolidated monthly financial reporting, internal control adherence and balance sheet integrity and risk management.
- Working closely with the Finance Business Partners to coordinate and review the production of consolidated monthly performance reports
ensuring compliance with monthly deadlines for the distribution of management reports.
- Develop and strengthen effective collaborative partnerships with a wide range of key stakeholders including the Department of Treasury and
Finance, the Corporation’s Executive General Managers as well as the Finance Business Partners, whilst providing effective leadership and
resource management.
- Undertake continuous improvement activities with a significant emphasis on improving and enhancing staff skill levels and participate in projects
focussed on business improvements between Finance and Business Services and other business units.
Project Management
- Communicate and market initiatives to management and employees.
- Development of project plans and costing for implementation of programs including analytic modelling (driver-based, variance analysis) and
‘operational’ planning (workforce, sales, revenue, demand, capital works portfolio planning, etc.)
- Oversee the implementation of identified projects including delivery of annual Statement of Corporate Intent.
- Evaluate and review the effectiveness of the implementation and project.
- Transition of projects into business process and procedures as required.
Employee Engagement and Wellbeing
- Coach and assist the development of strategies and action plans to improve team engagement and morale.
- With the support and advice of the People and Culture Business Partners, provide guidance to all employees using correct, relevant information,
ensuring all employee relations issues, (including those falling under EEO and WHS legislation are dealt with in an appropriate manner.
- Coach employees on problems affecting work performance.
Business Planning
- Key liaison with Department of Treasury and Finance for all Statement of Corporate Intent queries and ongoing engagement accountability to
ensure timely response to their requirements.
- In consultation with the Senior Manager Business Finance, assist in establishing performance targets and participate in business planning and
strategy determinations.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and other management plans with respect to Finance and Business Services
Leadership
- Ownership and accountability for driving meaningful and sustainable change across Finance and Business Services (including investing and
building sustainable capabilities among employees, while increasing engagement and job satisfaction).
- Act under own initiative and be able to respond pro-actively in a changing and dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage upwards at Senior Management level and obtain support in an environment of conflicting priorities and perspectives.
- Development and review of My Plans for direct reports.
