The Chair and the Members of this statutory board are entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and educators, who bring diverse experience in science, technology and engineering; business innovation and transformation; industry innovation and research; advanced manufacturing and commercialisation.
IISA works to position Australia as a leading innovation nation. Its main roles are to:
- Provide strategic oversight of innovation programs under its responsibility.
- Provide independent, strategic advice to government on matters relating to industry, innovation, science and research.
- Promote investment in industry and Australia’s innovation, science and research system.
The successful Chair candidate will have chair experience. The successful Chair and Board Member candidates will require the ability to work collaboratively and think strategically and have a high standard of professionalism, probity and personal integrity. To support the broad responsibilities of IISA, the Chair and Board Member candidates will be expected to draw on extensive experience in business and industry as well as innovation, research and development (R&D) and/or commercialisation. The Chair and Board Member candidates should also demonstrate familiarity with government policy and/or the governance and oversight of innovation and investment programs. Experience in science, research collaboration, and data and technology would be an advantage.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
