About the division
The Business Grants Hub is responsible for the design and management of grant programs on behalf of 10 other Commonwealth departments, managing nearly $10b in government investments in Australian businesses.

Grants play a critical role in:


  • supporting growth in businesses and industries
  • fostering research and innovation
  • strengthening communities
  • helping the environment
  • providing emergency relief
In addition to grant program management, the division encompasses enabling functions that provide a comprehensive support model for grant delivery.

We are a dynamic division of over 400 people, with a geographically dispersed workforce located all around Australia.
About the branch
The Internal & Systems branch within the Business Grants Hub (BGH) division is responsible for BGH technology, data and workforce systems which enable excellence in grants delivery. We maintain and enhance IT solutions, manage grants data and transform it into insights, and support our people with workforce planning and capability building. We provide policy advice on the Australian Government business grants programs.

The Branch is also responsible for the flagship Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program which delivers improvements in the competitiveness, productivity and sustainable of Australian industries through CRC Grants and CRC Projects.

The team is responsible for the on-boarding of both internal and external grant opportunities and services to the Business Grants Management System (BGM). The team ensures there are appropriate, simple, and efficient configuration and testing processes to guarantee all programs are on-boarded to BGM within the required timelines and specifications. We work closely with program delivery and design teams to provide technical solutions for more streamlined and simplified grant and service program design.

The team is currently seeking experienced and motivated Manual Testers to assist in the delivery of various projects across the Division.
Our ideal candidate
Our ideal candidate will have:


  • Well-developed software testing skills and demonstrated experience in application/system tester roles.
  • Expertise in developing test artefacts, including writing, reviewing, and executing complex test plans and cases and developing test strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate and work productively within a cross functional team of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Application developers, Web Developers and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, agile, environment with geographically dispersed teams.
  • A thorough knowledge or understanding in testing digital solutions for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines conformance. Current accessibility training is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage with non-technical stakeholders.
  • A tertiary degree related to ICT or a minimum of 3 years ICT testing experience.
While not necessary, the following qualities are also desired:

  • Experience developing test plans/cases for custom applications, including the Azure and Microsoft suite of products and services.
  • Experience tracking and managing test plans and test case through Azure Dev Ops.

What you will do
As a Manual Tester at the APS 6 level, you will:


  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to analyse documented specifications, user stories and requirements to generate, review and execute test cases and test plans using Azure Dev Ops on web-based applications.
  • Conduct manual functional, UAT, integration, and regression testing in Dynamics 365 and web-based portal, ensuring a high degree of accuracy while considering both technical and customer requirements.
  • Effectively prioritise testing efforts, and test case execution.
  • Raise defects / issues and log and track faults using Departmental tools including Azure Dev Ops.
  • Provide advice and input into the teams’ Testing Strategy.
  • Be a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team using agile and traditional delivery methods.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.

Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Notes
This vacancy is ongoing, non-ongoing contracts may be issued for an initial period of up to 12 months.
