Students who are strong readers by the end of third grade are positioned to be strong learners the rest of their lives. But in the United States, more than half our students reach fourth grade without learning to read proficiently. Together, we can change this! The amazing thing about our program - we train ordinary people to make an incredible impact as tutors. With specialized training and coaching, we will prepare you to help kids succeed. Tutors serve during the school day, Monday-Friday, and are needed for the whole school year. We are currently recruiting for the 2024-2025 school year.
Member Duties : Be a caring adult who’s focused on helping students build their skills and confidence. Track student progress and regularly meet with the school’s on-site coach. Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software. Commit to your own growth as a tutor through coaching, training, and professional development. Represent Reading Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness.
