ABOUT Hands On Greater Phoenix: For nearly 30 years, Hands On Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The Hands On VISTA program supports members at multiple placement sites across the valley. Our VISTA members enable our community service partners to expand capacity and build infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable resources. Hands On VISTA members will improve capacity for leading communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to volunteering, civic engagement, and other areas. In addition to the site-specific work of the individual role all of our VISTA members: participate in 2 Ameri Corps of Service, lead projects at 2 Hands On community service days, attend monthly VISTA team trainings with the other Hands On VISTA members, and monthly community volunteering project opportunities. Member Duties : Join Unlimited Potential and help ignite unity through education and advocacy by providing resources and a pathway to equitable opportunities, grounded in acceptance and respect to promote strong families and communities! Low-income Arizona households spend 7 times as much of their income on energy costs compared to the average household. The selected applicant will help develop effective and engaging environmental justice community outreach and curriculum based on the needs and interests of stakeholders in the community, conduct education needs assessments and increase access to resources and tools provided to the community. The future member should demonstrate an ability to work with diverse populations. Bilingual - Spanish and/or knowledge in community outreach, environmental education, or curriculum development is preferred but not required.
