The Office of Financial Services Purchasing | Contracting Team is seeking a highly qualified individual to join their team as a Buyer I.

Duties & Responsibilities
Agreement Coordination and Negotiation:
- Review, process, and negotiate assigned agreements, ensuring compliance and alignment.
- Coordinate negotiations with internal departments and external suppliers, involving University regulatory offices.
- Review specific terms in the context of the entire negation agreements
- Collaborate with supervisor to determine acceptable levels of risk in one area and evaluate if it can be modulated by terms in another area.
Communication and Customer Service:
- Maintain an organized workflow system for transparent contract status communication.
- Respond quickly and effectively in negotiations and resolve issues with a positive outcome.
- Assist in finding and implementing creative solutions to resolve contract issues.
- Participate in efforts to improve processes, in line with the goals of the Contracting Team.
Contract Administration:
- Maintain organized contract files and documentation, utilizing a cloud-based solution.
- Track contract deadlines, and renewal dates to ensure timely and proper execution.
- Monitor contract deliverables and obligations to mitigate potential issues.
Compliance and Knowledge:
- Stay updated on Arizona and Federal laws, Arizona Board of Regents policies, and University procedures.
- Work within tight deadlines, utilizing organizational skills and prioritization techniques.
- Interact professionally with University departments, suppliers/vendors, and cross-functional teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to manage significant work volume in a very dynamic business and compliance environment
- Ability to adapt to a fast‐paced work environment and be able to quickly understand facts and assumptions to decisively recommend a future course of action
- An understanding of contract law principles, including formation, interpretation, and enforcement of contracts
- Skill in analyzing complex contracts, identifying potential risks, and formulating solutions
- Ability to negotiate effectively, balancing the interests of different parties while seeking optimal outcomes
- Meticulous attention to detail to review contracts, identify discrepancies, and ensure accuracy
- Willingness to stay updated on changes in laws, business practices, and technologies
- Strong interpersonal skills to work within and across groups
- Proficiency with Office365 products and other online applications/products
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- 1 year of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and administering contracts, with a proven ability to ensure compliance with relevant laws and organizational policies.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
