Position Highlights
The Translational Neuroscience department at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is currently recruiting a Scientific Analyst I to support Isabelle Schrauwen's lab in a research project focused on the genetic background of various neurological disorders. Duties & Responsibilities
- With the assistance of Dr. Schrauwen, the candidate will be involved in conducting computational research with the goal to study the molecular background of neurological disorders.
- Assist with data management and data analyses using laboratory designated software to obtain study objectives.
- Participates in maintaining computational biology workflows for data analyses to fulfill research goals.
- Work with Dr. Schrauwen and other laboratory staff to identify problems with computational biology workflows and recommend solutions or changes as necessary.
- Utilize good coding practices including versioning (eg. Github) and writing detailed documentation to document all data analyses pipelines.
- Contribute to managing and formatting data for publications and presentations.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to conduct research independently and within a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and delegate to others.
- Effective communication, organization and documentation skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on bioinformatics, biostatistics, biology, biochemistry, computer sciences or a related field.
Master's degree in a related field of study.
Experience in analyzing next generation sequencing data, such as genetics, transcriptomics and epigenetic data.
Experience with linux shell coding/bash, R or Python.
Comfortable with job submission on a high-computing cluster.
Excellent trouble shooting skills.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
