Filing and Confirmations Clerk- Admissions department
Education, Qualifications and Experience: - Grade 12 or equivalent qualification - English as first language - Computer proficiency - 4-5 years relevant work experience - Accurate handling of cash (ITC and criminal checks will be performed on shortlisted candidates) - Knowledge of general ICD CPT coding preferable - Working knowledge of HIMS and Logbox or related hospital admission systems will be an advantage - Knowledge of hospital procedures and medical aid and further rules is preferable Responsibilities: Theatre Admissions: - Call all doctors’ secretaries to confirm theatre bookings . - Call medical aids regarding theatre patients to enquire about any co-payments and pre-authorizations. Discharge of patients: - Facilitate the discharge of patients and bill the patient’s accommodation according to the length of their stay in the hospital. - Verify that the daily discharge list corresponds with that of pharmacy. - Double check every morning if casualty patients have been discharged. Accounts: - Timeously releasing of all accounts. - Filling printed copies of accounts released. - Follow up on the reason for rejected claims. - Follow up on outstanding and pending authorisations. Filling and Keeping of Patient Records: - Accurate office filling. - Barcoding of files. - Scanning the barcodes of files. - Filing and posting of documents. - Managing performance ratings for all staff through the performance improvement process. - Making sure that when a patient passes on, the correct files are destroyed. - Making copies of files when they are requested. - Formulating a filing system that will assist in the swift location of a specific file. - Ensuring newborn authorisations have been approved and they are registered on the medical aid Data Capturing: - Ensuring that newborn baby registrations are followed up. - Assisting with data capturing. - Ensure all patients authorisation numbers have been correctly entered into the system. - Capture the details required for all casualty patients. Confidentiality: Adhere to hospital policies and procedures regarding patient confidentiality. Job Type: Full-time Ability to commute/relocate:
