JOB TITLE: Chief Security Officer DIRECTLY REPORTS TO: Director of Administration JOB SUMMARY The Chief Security Officer works collaboratively with the Management Team and staff to ensure the effective and efficient management of security in line with the school’s vision and mission. The CSO is responsible for overseeing the physical safety of students, staff members, parents, visitors, physical assets, and all information records. Additionally, they manage security risk assessments and supervise incident investigations. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Develop and implement a comprehensive physical security program with strategies to identify and mitigate potential risks. - Oversee all security arrangements, ensuring optimal security protocols across all school locations. - Ensure the school's security policies comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. - Collaborate with the Head of Technology and Operations to develop and manage the security budget. - Stay up to date with security trends, regulations, and changing laws, applying relevant updates as needed. - Work closely with the Child Protection and Safeguarding Manager to execute, review, and update existing security measures in line with school and government requirements. - Assign duties, schedule, and supervise the work of security personnel. - Support school leadership in maintaining law and order across campuses. - Maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement and government agencies regarding security matters. - Build and foster a culture of safety and security throughout the organization. - Review and update physical safety policies and protocols regularly. - Identify security risks and implement measures for continuous improvement. - Manage and investigate security incidents or breaches, providing appropriate resolutions. - Assist with planning and coordination of special events and projects. - Respond promptly to critical incidents, investigate causes, and take appropriate actions. EXPERIENCE - 6 - 8 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a Chief Security Officer role in a top-rated institution. Experience in an educational institution is an added advantage.
