Job Title: Bakery Commi 2-CDP Job Summary: The Baker is responsible for mixing, preparing, and baking bread, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods. This includes following recipes, ensuring quality and consistency, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The Baker will also collaborate with other kitchen staff and may be involved in product development and customer service. Key Responsibilities:
Preparation and Baking:
Measure and combine ingredients according to recipes.
Mix, knead, and shape dough or batter.
Operate and maintain baking equipment, such as ovens, mixers, and proofers.
Monitor baking process to ensure products are baked to the correct consistency and appearance.
Adjust oven temperatures, humidity, and timing as needed.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and presentation.
Ensure that baked goods are produced in a timely manner and meet customer expectations.
Taste products to ensure they meet quality standards.
Recipe Development:
Experiment with new recipes and techniques to create innovative baked goods.
Modify existing recipes to improve taste, texture, and appearance.
Keep up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate new ideas into baking practices.
Inventory and Supply Management:
Order and maintain inventory of baking supplies and ingredients.
Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
Ensure proper storage of ingredients and finished products to maintain freshness and quality.
Sanitation and Safety:
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning equipment and surfaces.
Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
Customer Service:
Assist customers with selecting baked goods and provide information about ingredients and allergens.
Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to fulfill special orders and ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or baking school certification preferred.
Proven experience as a baker or relevant role.
Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders, and dough sheeters.
Understanding of baking techniques and methods.
Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
Strong attention to detail and creativity.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Good physical condition and stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy ingredients.
