They ensure that all guests receive a high-quality dining experience by overseeing service standards, staff coordination, and guest relations. They work closely with the café manager to maintain a pleasant and efficient environment, guiding junior staff and ensuring that service operations run smoothly. Key Responsibilities:
Guest Service:
Welcome and greet guests, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Ensure guests' needs are met promptly and efficiently, managing any special requests or complaints.
Oversee table setups, ensuring cleanliness and readiness at all times.
Take food and beverage orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen or bar.
Monitor dining areas to ensure timely and appropriate service.
Staff Supervision & Training:
Supervise and guide stewards, ensuring adherence to service standards.
Assist in training new staff on menu knowledge, service techniques, and hygiene standards.
Coordinate shift schedules, manage breaks, and oversee daily task assignments.
Conduct pre-service briefings with the team to discuss daily specials, promotions, or any operational updates.
Service Coordination:
Coordinate with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth delivery of orders.
Monitor the flow of service, resolving any delays or issues promptly.
Assist in setting up and managing private events, if necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergens.
Inventory & Supplies:
Monitor stock levels of beverages, condiments, and other café supplies.
Coordinate with the manager for replenishments and report any shortages.
Ensure all service equipment is maintained and cleaned regularly.
Compliance & Hygiene:
Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
Conduct regular checks to ensure that staff are following hygiene protocols.
Ensure cleanliness in all service areas, including tables, counters, and seating areas.
Support in maintaining up-to-date documentation on hygiene audits and inspections.
Sales & Upselling:
Provide recommendations and upsell menu items, including food, beverages, and specials.
Support promotional activities and seasonal offerings by explaining them to guests and team members.
Assist in tracking guest feedback and sales trends to improve service quality.
Financial Responsibilities:
Handle cash and card transactions, ensuring accurate billing and payments.
Assist the café manager in daily cash reconciliation and reporting.
Minimize waste and control portions to maintain profitability.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; a hospitality or F&B-related diploma is a plus.
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in F&B service, preferably in a café or casual dining environment.
Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Customer-focused with problem-solving capabilities.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food service.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
