Position Summary
The UNM Student Financial Aid Office seeks a dynamic and creative professional interested in serving as the department’s Financial Aid Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated professional to be an integral member of a progressive Student Financial Aid Office.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Manager works collaboratively with Division of Enrollment Management personnel and colleagues throughout the university system.
The Financial Aid Manager oversees the daily operations of the Scholarships and Funds Management Teams and is responsible for ensuring short- and long-term departmental operational goals are met. The successful candidate will have broad student financial aid experience with specific knowledge in the administration of scholarship programs and accounting functions associated with a comprehensive financial aid office. The Financial Aid Manager is integral in the development of strategies to maximize the use of financial aid programs in support of institutional goals.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success within a higher education setting. The successful candidate will have excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, a high sensitivity to cultural issues, competency for critically analyzing processes, and an understanding of the innovative uses of technology in a higher education setting (Banner experience is preferred). The candidate must also be highly organized, detail oriented, creative, energetic, able to work productively and effectively lead teams, possess a strong commitment to superior customer service, and understand the importance of financial aid in student recruitment and retention.

Conditions of Employment
- If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates for this position should demonstrate the following characteristics, skills, and abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, regulations, and policies.
- Strong technical skills and experience with a variety of software solutions including the Ellucian Banner ERP system, Award Spring, On Base, and Microsoft products.
- A commitment to working with diverse students and their families.
- Strong analytic skills and data-informed decision making.
- Experience administering scholarship programs within a university setting.
- Experience managing the accounting functions within a student financial aid office.
- Effective communication skills and a flexible, creative, and collaborative approach to work and leading teams.
