Working Title
Univ Emergency Mgt Coordinator
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Crisis Management and Preparedness, coordinates all emergency planning and operations for the University, to include University-wide emergency preparedness programs, and initiatives. Participates as a member of the University Threat Assessment Team and CARE program. Collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders. Provides community education in emergency management principles and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of emergency management programs and operations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Knowledge and understanding of institutional emergency management principles, procedures, and standards.
- Knowledge of local, State, and Federal emergency systems and agencies, to include law enforcement, fire prevention/protection, and emergency medical services.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to emergency management and disaster medical assistance.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle high-pressure situations calmly and professionally.
- Familiarity with emergency response protocols and crisis management procedures.
- Advanced working knowledge of hospital and university specific disaster planning, processes, systems, recovery, and resource requirements.
- Ability to plan, organize and direct multiple programs and activities.
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques for the provision of outreach services.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Knowledge of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) hazards, and response and mitigation procedures and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
