HUD certification obtained within three months of employment
Works with clients on a one-one-one basis to provide education, guidance and referrals tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
Performs housing counseling primarily for non-IHFA borrowers, will assist with IHFA borrowers as needed.
Main focuses are default, pre-purchase, post-purchase non-default, and rental assistance (preparation/eviction), for HECM certified counselor, required FHA reverse mortgage counseling for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage.
Deliver a wide variety of housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, renters and the homeless.
Educate individuals to help them make smart decisions regarding improving their housing situation and meeting the responsibilities of tenancy and homeownership.
Provide financial literacy education
Perform budget and credit analysis and education
Make counseling recipients aware of their options and empower them with the information they need to help them make smart choices.
Educate borrowers on fees and terms and other conditions related to their housing needs
Make a reasonable effort to have follow-up communication with the client to ensure that the client is progressing toward his or her housing goal
Distribute and be a resource for information concerning Fair Housing and Fair Lending.
Customer Service:
Respond to general customer inquires
Works to meet customer needs and maintain good customer relations while providing education and counseling necessary.
Department/Program Needs:
Meets IHFA goals for housing counseling
Provides overall department support for both HBE and Counseling when needed
Must comply with HUD and Other Counseling Program Grant requirements.
Assist with department related projects for both HBE and Housing Counseling.
Personal Development:
Participation in training/cross training, and other educational classes that will benefit the Association, and the individual as it relates to the job.
Is a team player and works toward Association goals.
Shows an interest in maintaining good attendance, and work life balance.
May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Position qualifications required are the following:
Two to four years of experience in residential real estate lending, residential loan processing, loan closing, loan servicing, or a combination of education and experience in related fields which clearly demonstrates a thorough understanding of the functions listed.
Experience with loss mitigation programs and loan counseling preferred.
Must be able to obtain and maintain required counseling certifications.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain HUD certification within 6 months of employment. This certification is integral to the role. Failure to obtain the required certification within the specified timeframe may result in reconsideration of employment status.
