DESCRIPTION

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Control Room Operator to work in our Building Operations department. Our team works a rotating 4X12 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex.

INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis
Responsibilities Include:
You Will operate facility and process systems in Lab and Hot Cell Services nuclear facilities. Perform activities including receiving, storing, packaging, tracking, analyzing nuclear material in hot-cells, gloveboxes, vaults, radioactive material confinement tents and hoods.
  • Support researchers with loading/unloading/maintaining advanced research systems, remote handling equipment, shielded casks, facility utilities, operational support systems, gloveboxes, shielded hot cells and testing equipment.
  • Maintaining facility system operations through daily operations, maintenance, and permit implementation.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility operations, equipment performance, production, treatment, and experimental data.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 2/Level 3: HS Diploma and four+ years of experience working in a similar nuclear environment, or a Vocational or technical certification such as Energy System Technology & Education Center (ESTEC), successfully completing required course work and 2 years' experience, OR four years Nuclear Navy experience, nuclear NEC, Machinist's Mate (MM), Electrician's Mate (EM), or Electronics Technician (ET).
  • Relevant experience gained in multiple industrial, laboratory, or commercial settings.
  • Understanding of conduct of operations and a practical knowledge of basic engineering theory in electrical power distribution, instrumentation and control, nuclear physics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Candidates selected for interview will show successful completion of college level or high school advanced placement math and science courses with a min of a "C" grade as part of the interview process.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" / "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred:
  • Associate's degree or ESTEC Grad or Nuclear Navy experience.
Job Information:
  • The pay range for this position is: Level 350 ($29.46 - $48.61) / Level 360 ($34.47 - $56.87). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
