JOB GOAL:
To aid and support assigned teacher and other certified personnel in implementing the instructional program and support services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month (184 days) contract, Schedule 804 Range 103, plus benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon experience. FLSA: Non-Exempt.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one of the following:
- Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate,
- Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development (or similar area focused on early childhood), or Bachelor’s degree.

If the candidate does not possess full qualifications, he/she must agree to complete qualifications through an approved Staff Qualification Plan (SQP) from ABC within the prescribed timeframe.

Must pass background checks including child maltreatment and state/federal checks.

Must be kind, nurturing, and responsive to children and work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other adults.

Ability to access and respond to emails on a regular basis, read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and/or memos and respond accordingly.

Must be able to sit on the floor and interact with students on their level and work outside with students during gross motor development learning.

Willing and able to comply with requirements for DHS (including ABC or other agency).

Willingness to complete required ABC trainings and participate in on-going staff development (30 hours annually).

Cooperation with other adults and children.

Demonstrates professionalism (punctuality, confidentiality, competence for assigned responsibilities).
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Assists the teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such as breakfast/snack, restroom, clothing needs, and the maintenance of the classroom.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
