JOB PURPOSE: THE Health, safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer is responsible for identifying, assessing and advising on risks arising from the workplace or work processes, recommending measures to eliminate or minimize and control the risks and implementing the measures. The idea candidate would as well possess the skill of fire fighting management. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: ·Fire Pump House Operation and Inspection · Fire Hydrant system Operation and Inspection · Gas detection and Alarm System Operation and Inspection. First aid & Fire fighting · Fire Hose operation · Conducting fire drills Water Sprinkler system inspection and operation · Automatic foam flooding system inspection and operation · Near miss reporting and investigation of near miss and advising corrective preventive actions. · Investigating process and occupational incidents. · Monitoring and Ensuring PPE compliance as per PPE matrix · Near miss management and coordination with user departments for NM closure. · Advise on safety aspects in all job studies, and to carry out detailed job safety studies of selected jobs. · Advise the concerned departments in a factory in planning and organizing measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries. · Provide advice on matters related to carrying out plant safety inspections. · Maintain and monitor the safety systems like hydrant, showers, and detection and alarm systems. · Record keeping and maintaining safety documentation. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 3 years cognate experience in a similar HSE role, preferably within chemical Industries. · Bachelor’s degree or HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. · Professional certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA certification, or equivalent is highly desirable. · Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices involving Fire Fighting management · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software. · Good communication and teamwork abilities.
