About the Department of Education
We contribute to Australia's economic prosperity and social wellbeing by creating opportunities and driving better outcomes through access to quality education and learning.

The Role
Across International Division, we work on international education policy challenges and high-profile initiatives that support the sustainability of our vibrant international education sector.

We operate as policy advisors, representatives, regulators, analysts, administrators and diplomats. We work closely across the department, with other Australian government agencies, state and territory governments and education providers to ensure Australia is recognised as a regional and global leader in education and training.

We provide policy leadership and coordination across government on international education, deliver policies and programs to support student mobility and the global exchange of knowledge, and work position Australia as partner of choice for international education collaboration. We also work closely with foreign governments to advance Australia’s economic growth, public diplomacy and national security interests through education.

A key focus of the International Division is the International Education and Skills Strategic Framework, which sets out a future direction for the international education and training sector, one that is sustainable, high-quality, diverse and founded on integrity.

The International Division is seeking talented, energetic people with strong policy, analytical and communication skills to join our team. We require applicants who are strategic thinkers, effective collaborators and willing to work across a broad range of initiatives.
