APS5 Information Management Officer

LOCATION: Canberra

SYNOPSIS:

About the Role
The Information Services Branch are recruiting an APS 5 within their Information Management Team, where you will undertake various information and records related activities and tasks.
Our ideal applicant will be required to undertake various information and records management related activities and tasks using available information with limited direction. Operational you will be required to work in the office at least 3 days a week. You will be required to assist with the preparation of procedures, policies, operational support and advice in relation to information management queries. The ability to initiate, establish, and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to perform operational tasks including providing staff with access to electronic resources. Contribute as part of a team and complete records management activities, ensuring the proper retention and disposal of records in accordance with legal requirements.
The Information Services Branch is seeking to recruit an APS 5 within their Information Management Team. The position is a full-time Canberra based role. Flexible working arrangements (such as remote work) will be considered on an individual basis, based on the operational requirement of the role and individual preferences.
The Information Management Team oversees the management of The Treasury’s official corporate records, provides information policy advice, and delivers e-library services, furthering digital transformation efforts and supporting recordkeeping responsibilities. IMT manages records using Castlepoint and Share Point Online for recent content, while legacy content is handled with Content Manager. Share Point Online remains the primary approved system for managing and storing official digital records.
The ideal candidate for this role will handle various information and records-related duties with minimal oversight. Contributing to the creation of procedures, policies, and support for information management inquiries. Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is crucial. The role also includes giving staff access to electronic resources and ensuring records are retained and disposed of in compliance with legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve outcomes and deliver critical projects, ensuring support within a digital environment.
  • Provide system administration and support for Content Manager.
  • Resolve end-user issues efficiently.
  • Conduct record searches for Royal Commissions, Freedom of Information requests, and other inquiries.
  • Manage electronic library alerting services.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Deliver information management and recordkeeping education, support, advice, and training.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of records management functions and processes.
  • Adapt to changing environments, manage competing perspectives, and respond to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Contribute to the development of internal and external communications.
  • Exhibit well-developed organisational skills with a customer-focused approach and robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Support the team in meeting objectives and delivering essential work projects.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
  • Qualifications or extensive experience in information or records management would be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of legislative and policy requirements for information and records management within Commonwealth Government, or the ability to quickly acquire that knowledge.
