About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Procurement and Grants, the EL1 Grants Policy Officer is responsible for providing specialist advice and support on grant policies and processes to departmental staff. This pivotal role offers an opportunity to lead a small team and shape the strategic direction of grant administration within the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the EL1 Grants Policy Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
Providing leadership and mentoring to a small team of professionals.
Offering strategic advice and strategies to ensure compliance with Commonwealth Grant obligations.
Delivering routine specialist grant policy advice and guidance to various business areas.
Preparing routine and ad hoc reports on grant matters, including non-compliance.
Participating in external forums and consultative groups to represent the department.
Managing the Grants Policy Inbox to ensure timely and effective communication.
Overseeing the administration of new and existing grants in Grant Connect and internal systems.
Building and maintaining networks and relationships with the Community Grants Hub, Business Grants Hub, and Department of Finance.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Extensive knowledge and experience in Australian Government grant practices, with a thorough understanding of related policies.
A strong grasp of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs).
Proven ability to provide grant administration support in accordance with CGRGs.
Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with experience in team leadership and mentoring.
Desirable:
Experience in grants administration or collaboration with the Community or Business Grant Hubs under the Streamlining Government Grants Administration (SGGA) program.
