About your opportunity
Operating Theatre Assistant / Permanent part-time / 37 hours p.f.
To assist nursing, medical and surgical staff within the 14 Operating theatre complex and outlie areas to ensure a safe and efficient work area.
- Assist with the transfer of patients to and from the operating tables using appropriate equipment.
- Assist with Perioperative antiseptic preparation, limb support and manipulation, irrigation fluids, and basic cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.
- Apply cast, splints and other appliances to patients as directed.
- Cleaning of operating theatres and associated areas in accordance to the Queensland Health Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines. This will include a 'high clean' of the theatre environment by the operating theatre assistant during core business hours.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to perform the role of an Operating Theatre Assistant.
- Previous Manual Handling Experience in a Health Care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to priorities work commitments and work autonomously in a rapidly changing work environment.
- Excellent consultative, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Generous remuneration package value up to $40,739 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $34.02 to $36.01 p.h. (OO3)
- Annual leave with leave loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- Although not mandatory, qualifications relevant to the position would be well regarded.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Probation period may apply.
