Primary objective
Prepare talking points, coordinate and edit speeches, messages and develop creative communication products, including social media and
web content, video, digital and print products to support the Administrator of the Northern Territory to achieve targeted, engaging and
effective communications that enhance the role of the Administrator and promote community cohesion and progression of the Northern
Territory.
Context statement
Government House staff support the Administrator to perform their Statutory, Ceremonial and Community duties. The role reports to the
Manger of Program and Communications and is required to work in a busy environment delivering high quality professional and strategic
media activities that enhance the role of the Administrator and promote the Northern Territory, and Territorians.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Source and liaise with casual speech writers, fact check and research content, talking points and presentations for the Administrator
and Deputy of the Administrator.
2. Liaise with external stakeholders including government and non-government organisations, relating to communication products,
speaking points and media requirements.
3. Administer and maintain social media channels, web content and identify new content trends and the best use of infographics,
interactive pages, dynamic designs, and online tools to ensure delivery of digital and social content is best practice and provide in-
house training to other staff. Attend events and capture and create imagery that enhances the profile of the Administrator of the
Northern Territory, Government House and the Australian Honours and Awards System in the Northern Territory.
4. Prepare and disseminate media alerts and media releases, liaise with media outlets and official photographers, manage on-site media
and other media requests as required.
5. Monitor local and national media and provide advice to relevant officers to ensure the Administrator is responsive to community
expectations and is proactively giving emphasise to issues that promote community cohesion and progression of the Northern
Territory.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level communication skills, including superior creative writing, editing and research skills, with the ability to write
for diverse audiences, channels and publications.
2. Practical knowledge of the processes and operational requirements of all forms of media including demonstrated experience in the
creation, dissemination and delivery of content across digital and printed media channels.
3. Proven high level adaptability and flexibility, including the capacity to manage pressure and change, prioritise heavy workloads and
manage multiple deadlines.
4. Knowledge of the machinery of government, the role of the Administrator and the Australian Honours and Awards System.
5. Ability to frequently work outside normal business hours, accompany the Administrator when required.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in journalism or public relations.
2. Current NT Driver Licence.

and must be available outside of regular business hours to ensure ‘on-call’ availability is provided to the Official Secretary as needed. The
