Primary objective
Provide a high level confidential administrative and secretarial support to the Superintendent of the Regional Crime Division, and
other police members within this division to enhance delivery of business services.
Context statement
The applicant will have significant experience in secretarial and administrative duties, high level of interpersonal and organisational
skills; including a high level of confidentiality and computer proficiently.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide administrative assistance, advice and support to the Superintendent and team including phone coverage, mail, data
entry, minute taking and general word processing as required.
2. Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence for the Division utilising Northern Territory Government (NTG) and Northern
Territory Police (NTPOL) electronic systems to ensure efficiency and record keeping.
3. Provision of financial support to the Division, including minor procurement, preparing of purchase orders and processing of
invoices for payment as required.
4. Assist Superintendent with Divisional Projects including the compilation of documentation, managing related correspondence
and organise functions/ meetings involving multiple agencies and external parties.
5. Under the direction of the Superintendent, provide assistance and other administrative support duties throughout Division as
required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in providing highly confidential administrative and secretarial support service including working
knowledge of procurement procedures and principles.
2. Demonstrated experience in office procedures, and sound computer skills with experience in a range of computer software
including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
3. Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Effective interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating professionalism, tact, sensitivity and understanding and
respect for cultural diversity.
5. Ability to work as an integral member within a team environment and manage own workload, use initiative to set priorities and
demonstrate problem solving.
Desirable
1. Sound understanding of NTG and NTPOL electronic systems such as HPE Content Manager , Electronic Invoice Management
System (EIMS) and Expense8 (previously known as Electronic Card Management System, ECMS), TRIPS and Police Realtime
Online Management Information System (PROMIS).
2. Knowledge and understanding of the structures and roles of the NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services.
