Water Wastewater Plant Manager
PORPOSE OF THE JOB: Performs daily management, operations, and maintenance of the water treatment plant, wastewater treatment lagoons, oil/water separator, water distribution, and wastewater collection systems while maintaining compliance with all applicable Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) regulations and accreditation standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum three (3) years of experience in the operation of water treatment systems.
3. Must possess a current State of Alaska certification in water treatment at level 1 or higher. Must have State of Alaska Provisional Level Operator certifications in wastewater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection, within one year of hire. Water Treatment Level 2 operator certification preferred.
4. Customer Service oriented focus.
5. Certifications in confined space and 40-hour HAZWOPER are required.
6. Must be skilled in the maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of manganese greensand filtration systems, plumbing systems, pressure pumps, sewage lift pumps, submersible well pumps, chemical feed systems, and heating systems.
7. Have knowledge of and ability to operate various types of water and wastewater analysis equipment.
8. Familiarity with applicable ADEC regulations, ADEC-issued discharge permits, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, confined space entry, hospital accreditation standards pertinent to water/wastewater systems, and hazardous materials handling.
9. Ability to read and understand engineered drawings and equipment specifications.
10. Strong oral and written communications skills required.
