South Dakota State University (SDSU) is looking for a detail-oriented and dedicated early childhood care professional to join our team as a Training Specialist. This part-time position supports the Child and Family Resource Network which was established in 1990 as an outreach office at SDSU to provide information and resources for users and providers of childcare and their families. Currently, the Child and Family Resource Network is a state and locally supported Early Childhood Enrichment (ECE) program which provides training, education and resources to adults who are involved in the day-to-day care of children and youth.
Job Responsibilities: To support, train and assist childcare providers, directors, parents and professionals in their efforts to provide safe, healthy care for young children by implementing the Early Childhood Enrichment model of services to caregivers, parents, and professionals with a focus on supporting school-age and youth programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Child development, adult learning theory;
  • Data collection methods;
  • Computer software applications.

Skill & Ability to:
  • Research, write and implement developmentally appropriate, research-based professional development classes for child care providers and parents;
  • Work as part of a team;
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; prioritize work with competing deadlines; document outcomes; strong organizational and inter-personal skills; and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to find current research and identify best practices in the field of Early Childhood Education.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Attention to details;
Required License: Valid Driver’s License
