Manager of Training and Development- Durant, OK

POSITION SUMMARY
The Training & Development (T&D) Manager is responsible for leading T&D efforts within the distribution center that help employees at all stages of the employee lifecycle acquire new, or develop existing, knowledge, skills, abilities and potential. These efforts are guided by the framework of Webstaurant Store culture and the company core values and are intended to result in improved employee performance, productivity, purposeful work, retention, and leadership capacity. In addition to collaborating with local senior leaders to determine and assess T&D needs and approaches, the T&D Manager is also part of a T&D leadership team that monitors ongoing needs, strategically plans, develops solutions, and assesses effectiveness of DC network-wide initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the face of training and development efforts at the distribution center and a role model for key outcomes (e.g. cultural values, Ideal Team Player, Di SC awareness and application, and the ability to have crucial conversations).
  • Implement the T&D team’s strategy and lead local initiatives for all staff, including new hires, tenured employees, and the local management team.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, facilitate New Hire Orientation and other core T&D programs (e.g. Team Lead Learning Plan, New Leader Learning Plan, Effective Interactions, and Performance Management).
  • Develop, maintain, and consistently deliver other local training programs across all shifts that are relevant, engaging, and effective in addressing local needs; create high quality resources and materials related to T&D topics.
  • Deliver personalized coaching and consulting to employees at all levels on soft skills and other growth areas; create development plans for employees to generate engagement and contribute to the development of future leaders.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with employees by regularly walking the building (at least weekly), attending relevant meetings/gatherings, and actively engaging employees in their daily work. This also includes leading periodic check-ins with local managers (at least quarterly) to evaluate effectiveness of current programs and assess future needs.
  • Collaborate with local management to confirm ongoing T&D needs; this includes determining clear goals and applications for all T&D initiatives, evaluating outcomes, identifying problems or areas of improvement, and proposing solutions.
  • Manage the local tracking and reporting for T&D programs, including participation, outcomes, and other trends/patterns related to effectiveness.
  • Assist in creating SOPs and ensuring that local work environments support training needs.
  • Contribute to strategic conversations and planning with the DC T&D Managers regarding network-wide priorities and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated commitment to personal growth, learning and development
  • Knowledge of best practices in training and development tools and techniques and facilitating T&D for diverse learning styles
  • Solid understanding of and comfortability in coaching employees on developmental topics (e.g. Self-awareness, working with diverse styles and personalities, communication, conflict management and difficult conversations, emotional intelligence, change management, giving and receiving feedback, leadership development)
  • Interpersonal skills (e.g. Exudes a welcoming demeanor that makes employees feel comfortable approaching with questions and concerns; develops rapport easily with a diverse employee base)
  • Coaching/consulting skills (e.g. Active listening; asks good questions; guides individuals toward resources and solutions without trying to "fix" problems for them)
  • Presentation/public speaking - ability to facilitate presentations that are clear, engaging, interactive and relevant for the intended audience
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and the company’s learning management system
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change; ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations
  • Ability to work off-shift as required to respond to urgent needs

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
