Why does the job exist?
This position serves as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Supervisor in Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS) New Mexico Works (NMW) offices to provide Leadership and meet overall Program outcomes in the specific office/area assigned. The purpose of this position is to maintain responsibility for program administration and oversight; provide leadership and management over services; participates as the team leader and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the facilities assigned and supervise the staff.
How does it get done?
Ensure employees are held accountable for their performance and for obtaining direction and support as needed.
Actively networks with customers and other entities associated with various employment services.
Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of personnel.
Completes annual performance review process for employees.
Assign caseloads to Career Consultants and ensure that Career Consultants initiate timely contacts with participants to enable
participation within required TANF timeframes and Monitor that referrals and assessments are being appropriately conducted by
staff
Who are the customers?
Associate's degree in Social Services, Education, Government, Human Resources or Business Administration and three (3) years of experience in customer service, administrative support, business administration, human resources, recruitment, placement, processing personnel transactions and/or eligibility determination in a private or public sector and/or social welfare program. Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Long periods of sitting, standing, extended computer and telephone use. Excessive use of keyboard and viewing computer monitor. Repetitive hand movement. Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds. The incumbent will be required to perform outreach and drive long distances. Travel to include overnight stays may be required.
