SUMMARY Ensures those entering the Grandstand do not possess weapons, alcoholic beverages or any other item deemed inappropriate or prohibited. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all pedestrians, and their belongings, are screened prior to entering the Grandstand.
Communicate efficiently and effectively with patrons/employees while requesting them to open their coats, bags, etc., for a visual inspection.
Communicate efficiently and effectively with Keeneland Security and law enforcement personnel to relay the need for any additional screening of patrons/employees as well as any safety concerns that may arise.
Assist with other security related duties should a need arise.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, he/she must be able perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Attend a training session prior to the start of Race Meet concerning safety and screening procedures.
Maintain an appropriate state of dress including Keeneland supplied blue blazer and tie/scarf, and provide own khaki pants, white or blue button down shirt or blouse, and acceptable but comfortable footwear.
Applicant must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work varying hours during Race Meets with minimal advanced notice.
Possess good verbal communication skills and be capable of interacting positively with patrons/employees
Apply sound judgement and use discretion while engaging with patrons and employees.
Demonstrate good customer relations and interaction skills, and the ability to think on his/her feet.
Operate and work in a multitask environment and have the ability to contribute and participate in a team environment; applicant must be of sound mind and moral character.
Must successfully complete an interview structured to evaluate their general knowledge and abilities to perform required tasks to include, but not limited to, their decision-making abilities.
Must agree to abide by the Drug Free Workplace policy of Keeneland.
