Position Focus:
Under supervision of the Mellon Enduring Conditions PI/Director, and with Principal Investigator (PI) supervision, manage programming and evaluation efforts. This position will have primary responsibility for managing all day-to-day aspects of the program. This position will also be responsible for helping to develop and maintain partnerships with researchers, community leaders, and activists within and outside Yale University to support seminar and public events attached to the program.
Specific responsibilities will include serving as first point of contact for the program. Organizing one summer in-person/hybrid symposium in 2026 for program participants and several smaller events each academic year. Primary liaison with partners and supervision of subcontractors or vendors.
Responsible for establishing re-granting agreements, ensuring funds are used in alignment with requirements. Organizing two summer in-person/hybrid symposia two years for program participants. Facilitating communication between participants, program advisory committee, program consultants and program guest speakers. Coordinating meetings of advisory committees and consultants. Coordinating hybrid guest speaker visits including: arranging for live transcription, ASL interpretation and overseeing hybrid meeting technology. Representing the program whenever appropriate in public or professional meetings. Other administrative support tasks as assigned. Contributing to updating the program website. Contributing to maintaining a social media presence for the Initiative.
Essential Duties
1. Coordinates and manages diverse survey and experimental research projects, including research design, questionnaire development, implementation, and analysis, working with a multi-institutional team of investigators. 2. Authors public reports and peer-reviewed publications. 3. Constructs and maintains large datasets, including codebooks. 4. Maintains an online library of research reports and articles. 5. Assists with grant proposals. 6. Disseminates research findings through briefings, presentations, and social media. 7. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree in a relevant social science field or discipline, such as survey research, risk perception, communication (climate change, science, environment, public health, and/or political communication), behavior change, psychology, political science, sociology, or human geography and four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience. Proficiency and experience in survey and experimental research, project and data management, and analysis.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Analytical skills to research, compile, organize, understand, interpret, analyze, make recommendations and present to a wide variety of audiences. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Experience writing, editing, and proofreading communications to both academic and non- academic audiences and nonprofit organizations. Project management experience.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to oversee and delegate tasks to research team. Ability to organize teams with differing expertise and backgrounds towards a shared goal.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Experience with research development and implementation. Experience with both best practices for disability accessibility and creative new approaches to disability accessibility and inclusion. Ability to analyze systems of oppression. Ability to understand intersectional disability justice organizing and/or intersectional disability justice cultural work.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Experience in time management and organization Ability to work independently.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Experience with event planning. Ability to create/manage budgets.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Advanced training in politics of knowledge production and epistemology. Knowledge of university structures, policies and procedures. Familiarity with evaluation and reporting process. Experience presenting to large audiences, leading meetings with university and/or community leaders and in partnership development.
