Position Focus:
Provide high-level coordination and support for the School of the Environment fundraising and alumni services efforts assisting the Associate Dean and Associate Directors (“Directors”). Manage the post-graduate stipend programs and alumni networking opportunities for the two new flagship programs of the School, the Three Cairns Program for the Global South and the Bekenstein Climate Leaders Program. Design and implement an effective communications effort for the School’s various external constituencies, including alumni, donors, and prospects. This position reports to the Associate Dean, Development and Alumni Services.

Essential Duties of Position include manage the post-graduate stipend process of the Three Cairns and Bekenstein programs, and lead the alumni networking and community-building for these populations. Lead the activities focused on these populations on Alumnifire, the School’s networking platform, or any other platforms. In consultation with the Dean and Associate Directors, coordinate outreach efforts on behalf of the office. Provide research on individuals and/or corporations and foundation using office files, databases, and Internet search engines and resources. Create summaries of the prospect pool with respect to giving, status, affiliation, and other focus points as needed. Interact with alums and major gifts donors to provide cultivation and stewardship as appropriate. In concert with Dean and Associate Directors, assist in the coordination of events including reunion, Leadership Council, Alumni donor receptions, etc. Manage relationships and outreach to alumni Secretaries, solicit class notes and edit them for publications.
Essential Duties
1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs and oversees programmatic activities. 2. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures. 3. Manages program communications; identifies outreach potential, and promotes philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. 4. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans. 5. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. 6. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. Develops metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. 7. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. 8. Develops and manages the program's operating budget. 9. Manages the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resources including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Proven oral and written communication, editing, and analytical skills with knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media, and the ability to adapt to University wide databases.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated organizational and research abilities with strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and handle diverse, simultaneous tasks.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Ability to initiate and see tasks through with minimal supervision and experience with website searches and public information sources.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated professionalism, maturity, good judgment, and ability to work with confidential material.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Proven ability to interact with top level donors and Yale administrators, as well as students and alumni volunteers and the ability to work well in and foster a team environment.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Preferred masters degree with an interest in the Environment and demonstrated experience in a university setting or with development and alumni work. Familiarity with Yale is a plus.
