Deicing Specialists are responsible for operation of equipment for the removal of winter contaminants, such as Ice and Snow, from aircraft critical surfaces prior to a flight taking off. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, Technics and Procedures in all areas of aircraft Deicing. A Deicing Specialist must be able to operate all the equipment in our fleet to include dual and single operator trucks.
The deicing specialist will be required to maintain the serviceability of the deicing equipment, including supporting GSE and Quality departments by performing the Preseason, Mid-season, and End of Season deicing truck inspections, as well as deicing fluid tests required by the deicing program. Daily equipment inspections will be the responsibility of the Deicing Specialist for the deicer fleet during the winter season. Deicers will be responsible for accurately completing and delivering logs and work orders used for the tracking and billing of deicing services provided by Pegasus to our customers.
As fully qualified Operators of Deicing Equipment, the Deicing Specialist may be authorized and assigned to help perform training on the deicing equipment and to help train to a level of demonstrated acceptable capability with the deicing equipment during new or recurrent staffs OJT training periods.
Deicing Specialist may be responsible for operating the deicing fluid fill and storage station used to supply the deice trucks with fluids. Deicing Specialist may be responsible for ensure the proper acceptance, mixing and distribution of fluids from the deice facility.
During down times with no deicing, the Deicing Specialist may be assigned other duties within Ramp Operations for which they are qualified to work.
Deicing Specialist may be required to work independently, with little supervision during their shifts.
The Aircraft Deicing Specialist reports to the Deicing Manager.
Responsibilities
Aircraft de-icing / anti-icing of all Customer aircraft as needed.
Perform Seasonal and Daily Equipment Inspections
Perform service of equipment including Oil, Hydraulic fluids and Deicing fluids.
Inspects the aircraft for ice and for remaining frozen contamination after the deicing procedures are performed.
Safe and efficient operations of all ground service equipment
Observe safe ground handling procedures and maintenance of ground handling equipment, including the performance of equipment checks
Communicate iced conditions of the Aircraft to his Supervisor or Manager.
Communicate the amount of deicing fluid used and how much fluid was used.
Must be able to properly record on invoice for billing purposes.
Assist with ramp agents to service, and marshal aircraft, set up and operate cargo handling equipment and observe relevant occupational safety regulations.
Perform Acceptance and delivery of fluid at the Deice filling stations.

Qualifications
Must Possess a valid Driver’s License
Be at least 18 years of age
Must be willing to work in inclement weather
Must be comfortable with heights.
Good communication skills
Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.
High School graduate or GED
Able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated, team player
Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules during winter events.
Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior Ramp Service experience
Prior Deicing Experience
Language Skills:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Write routine reports and correspondence
Speak effectively one-on-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Math skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Abilities:

The Aircraft Deicers on occasion may lift or move with help up to 70 pounds, and/or more. They may frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Aircraft Deicers are regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk. They may be required to climb, sit, and balance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Aircraft Deicers typically work outside and are exposed to all types of weather conditions with a seasonal range of temperatures which include rain, snow, wind and extreme temperatures.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day. Occasionally high noise levels where hearing protection is required and provided.
