Job Summary
Provide motorist assistance services and parking enforcement on campus, as well as maintains parking equipment and collects parking revenue. Duties & Responsibilities

• Issues citations for violation of parking regulations.
• Provides motorist assistance services.
• Collects money from parking meters and pay stations.
• Installs and removes parking lot signage.
• Provides directional and other information as needed.
• Inspects for and reports on the physical components of parking facilities including surface conditions, curbing, drainage facilities, lighting, signage, etc.
• Recommends and/or coordinates towing of vehicles parked in violation of parking regulations.
• Collects and reports data (such as usage of parking areas, lot occupancy, or number of citations issued) for surveys or management statistics as determined by the supervisor.
• Recommends revisions in parking regulations and/or enforcement/motorist assistance procedures.
• Directs the regulation of traffic into and out of parking facilities considering appropriate traffic patterns.
• Provides assistance and training to co-workers in sensitive, hostile, or difficult enforcement or motorist assistance situations as requested by the supervisor.
• Staffs parking facilities and collects parking fees.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Physical Demands
Position works outdoors in both winter and summer.
Position may involve extensive traversing.

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Six (6) months of work experience in customer service or in parking enforcement and/or motorist assistance/service activities.
3. Possession of a valid and current State of Illinois driver’s license.
4. No record of conviction of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to collect, tally, and prepare statistical data.
• Ability to make decisions in emergency situations.
• Ability to maintain issued uniform, radio, and other equipment.
• Ability to interact with the public in sensitive situations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to safely navigate a vehicle through university streets and lots.
• Ability to learn the buildings, travel routes, and physical layout of the institution.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4689 - Parking Services Agent II position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 10/30/2024.
This is a bargained position and as such, the salary is driven by the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly rate for this classification begins at $23.34.
