Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish: $1.00 per hour
Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $1.00 per hour
Bimodal Multilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $2.00 per hour
Overview:
Provides active, hands-on peer support to parents/caregivers or youth/clients receiving Wraparound services. Effective peer support should be friendly, helpful, accessible and flexible. Must be the biological, adoptive, kin parent or non-related family member of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges or has had systems experience with their child in a child serving system. Must have life experience as the parent of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges. Please share your lived life experience in your cover letter. Key Responsibilities:
Teaches skills for parents to be able to effectively participate in the Wraparound process.
Builds hope for families and clients.
Effectively/professionally connects with client/family on a personal basis to build trust with client and
family.
Participates collaboratively in identifying potential team members and developing motivational
techniques to ensure commitment to the team.
Understands and explains the parents’ perspective, culture and beliefs in a way that increases
understanding by others, while decreasing differences and highlighting similarities.
Assesses the level of support needed by parent based on the family’s support network, their ability to
involve their support networks, and the ability of the parent to be heard by others.
Meets with family regularly and consistently to encourage and support an understanding of their vision
for the future.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be willing to obtain Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification
Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout (no more than 3 points).
Must pass a clear background check with CACI, DOJ & FBI.
CPR and First Aid Certified.
TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment.
Training:
RCS provides an in-depth onboarding and training orientation, which includes CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication/Pro-ACT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, introductions to all RCS departments, and other valuable trainings.
