SUMMARY:
Under the leadership of the Laboratory Director & Coordinator, ensure that all activities & assets of assigned section(s) are effectively managed in order to achieve departmental & organizational goals. This includes supervision of personnel performing those activities & charge capture/ compliance duties.
Responsible for procedures on various patient specimens giving careful attention to safety, quality assurance & regulatory guidelines including documentation of results. Work closely with LIS Administrator for data management; assist Director & Coordinator with QA, PI, regulatory & other duties necessary for the smooth operation of the department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology or related degree or equivalent level of experience. Must possess sufficient science classes to meet CAP/CLIA requirements.
Certifications: MLS (ASCP) or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 3 years Clinical Lab, LIS, and POCT experience, Proven advanced technical, supervisory, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
Other: Section Specialty Certification, Working knowledge of computers and laboratory equipment
Preferred Education: BSMT/MLS (ASCP) with five years of experience; Certification, additional Board Exam for specialization, etc.
Safety Sensitive Designation:
This position is deemed safety sensitive in accordance with Arkansas Act 593 governing Medical Marijuana.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Spend 8 hours or more in and out of the lab running the hospital floors collecting patient samples or in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse, daily. Ability to stand/walk, bend/stoop/twist, and occasionally lift up to 10lbs. Spends eight hours or more off and on in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must have a keen sense of hearing and visual acuity. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Must be able to respond and handle critical, highly stressful situations including providing CPR and code related Lab functions.
