Labor and Delivery Nurse

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and positive experience for both mother and baby. You will work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

Monitor the health and progress of laboring patients, including fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs.
Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed, including pain management techniques.
Assist with diagnostic evaluations and physical examinations to assess maternal and fetal well-being.
Provide education and support to patients and families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Facilitate tube feeding for newborns as necessary.
Document patient care accurately in electronic health records (Epic) to ensure continuity of care.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans for each patient.
Participate in urgent care situations as needed, providing immediate assistance during emergencies.
Maintain a sterile environment during delivery procedures while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

Current nursing license in the state of practice.
Previous experience in labor and delivery nursing or related fields such as PICU or urgent care is preferred.
Proficient in pain management techniques relevant to laboring patients.
Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation processes for both mothers and infants.
Experience with mammography is a plus but not required.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to engage in travel nursing opportunities if applicable.
