Job Summary: A Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for facilitating childbirth and managing the care of newborns and mothers after delivery. They monitor vital signs, administer medications, guide patients through the labor process, and assist doctors during delivery. They also provide emotional support to mothers and their families during the childbirth process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Monitor the health of the mother and the baby during labor and delivery
Administer medications and pain relief measures as necessary
Conduct assessments and exams, including cervical exams and fetal heart monitoring
Assist doctors and midwives during delivery
Record vital signs and medical history of patients
Guide and coach patients through the childbirth process and provide emotional support
Care for newborns, including administering medications, performing wellness checks, and monitoring for complications
Educate patients on postpartum care and breastfeeding techniques
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best care for patients
Qualifications and Skills:
Active RN license in the state of Vermont
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in nursing
Certification in fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, or other relevant certifications
Previous experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Physical stamina and ability to work long shifts on your feet
